just plain feng le

Karaoke is always a good time. But oh my lady gaga, just as with everything else, it is even sillier in China.

Friday night we went to a huuuuge Karaoke place called Melody. Because of the neon lights, obnoxious decorations and hallway of mirrors Kelly and I thought we had stumbled upon a casino. But alas, it was indeed the right place, and it did NOT disappoint. Each party gets their own room, which is standard practice for Chinese karaoke. Each room has flat screens, microphones, room service and couches to lounge on. Of course, we made ourselves at home and sang to hits such as Backstreet Boys and Michael Jackson...but one thing we didn't quite assimiliate to is the way Chinese do karaoke. We passed a few Chinese rooms, and the Chinese people are all just sitting on the couch, singing songs like Whitney Houston and Maraiah Carey, and putting their heart and soul into it as if they were performing a real concert and it was their only chance to be noticed for the next American Idol. Meanwhile, you walk by our room --- we are jumping around, dancing, screaming into the microphone, standing on things, and being retards. I like our way better, but they sure do know how to host.
