1. Here in Beijing, the main mode of transportation is the bicycle, and you can haul just about anything on the back of it. Anyway, a man had a cart attached to the back of his bike, had pulled over on the sidewalk, and was just chilling, sprawled out in it reading a newspaper.
2. Went to a sports complex to check out their fields and saw the maintenance men doing the daily water routine. One guy rode the bike, one guy ran next to the bike holding the water tank that sat in the cart being pulled by the bike, and one guy ran next to the bike with the hose while spraying down the field.
3. The people sitting around playing cards or what I have dubbed Chinese chess are not in themselves a new sight, but I did realize today, that after hours of trying to figure out how to play those games, I think the harder you slam the card on the table or the louder you hell when you move your piece the more points you score toward winning.
4. Ran across an outdoor dance performance that went from ball room style to something resembling salsa-flamenco fusion. Literally just a boom box, a couple groups of people dancing, and hundreds of people circling around them..all outside in the mall courtyard.
5. Again, not original in its self -- Chenglish T-shirts are like a minutely thing, but this one was just the cherry on top of a Chinesey day. (And that is in fact a guy in case you were wondering.)
Thank you, Beijing :)
